To set up your Tablo you’ll need an iOS or Android smartphone or tablet.

What smart devices are compatible with Tablo for viewing and managing live TV and recordings?

Does Tablo require a subscription?

No. There are no subscriptions, contracts, or hidden fees with Tablo whatsoever. Programming from your TV antenna as well as the 70+ included internet-based streaming channels are absolutely free and there is no cost to enjoy any Tablo apps, features, or guide data.

What hard drives are compatible with Tablo if I want to increase recording storage capacity?

Tablo devices come with up to 50 hours of onboard HD storage. However, you can choose to connect a portable USB hard drive (USB 2.0 or 3.0) between 1TB and 8TB in size for up to 1000 hours of additional storage capacity. See the Tablo Support Portal for details and recommendations.

Can I watch or record cable/satellite or streaming services with Tablo?

Tablo is great

I’ve just upgraded my Tablo from the Legacy model to the latest model. I’ve been a Tablo user for almost ten years and very happy with the new model. It is faster, connects to home Wi-Fi much easier, and seems to be much stabler than previous model. The installation was very easy. Tablo is a great investment.

The gen 4 4 tuner honest review.

I have a Recast (Amazon DVR), an AirTV (Sling DVR) both two tuner, purchased a Gen 4 Tablo with 4 tuner.
My Recast is no longer supported by Amazon and has been having issues lately, additionally you can only use the Recast with Firesticks/cube.
I replaced it with the Tablo. I still have the AirTV but I don't like the playback option with the Sling (free) app, you can fast forward but not skip commercials, it doesn't support 30 sec forward, 10 sec back.
Setup and use of the Tablo has been easy, particularly because all I had to do is add the coaxial I used on the Recast and plug the Ethernet cable in, it is 100Mbps as is the AirTV the Recast was 1000Mbps. Not really an issue for me. Scanning channels was simple.
The function is great, it has a signal amplifier that actually worked to improve reception on a channel that has a weak signal in my area, surprised me to be honest.
The amplifier isn't good enough to over come bad weather but I didn't expect it to be.
The software is okay but not great, It took awhile to determine how to create a favorites list but when I use favorites with live TV the programming guide is blanked for bottom four of my six channels favorites list.
I found if I go to the full channels list (programming guide is intact under channels) and remove and re-add the channels that don't show in the favorites list it restores the programming guide for the favorite list. Kind of annoying.
Some of the interface in the app isn't particularly user friendly, it's not great when moving from deleting a recording to get to the next recording, requires to many clicks and I have crashed the app.
Play back is greater, I was sceptical about the way fast-forward worked but I find it even better then the common 30 seconds Forward, 10 sec back so as it turns out I like the Tablo way better
I'll keep the AirTV connected but have found the four runners on the Tablo to be all I need.
So over all I like the Tablo a lot, the price was great, got it on sale directly from them. While I think the app needs work I fully expect it to be updated sometime in the future, I've noticed that they said the 4 tuner model was coming, it did, they said the Apple app was coming, it did so now I expect them to improve the Android and Roku versions of the app.
I gave the rating 4 stars rather than 5 based on the app, I am not disappointed in the device at all and glad I made the purchase and expect the app to be addressed in the future.

Better than expected

After having DirecTV for over 12 years, the constant price increases, having to pay for local channels and the constant loss of channels due to contract negotiations, is the reason I finally got rid of cable TV. Tablo was very easy to set up. Great picture quality. Only problem I had was that it wouldnt work on my older Samsung TV. I called Tablo support and he recommended a fire stick. Solved the problem!

Disappointed

I was hoping for better results. It stutters, skips, shuts off. Think I’m going back to Chanel Master.

Sorry you're running into that.

It sounds like the issue may be with your Wi-Fi connection. It may be a good idea to connect your Tablo via Ethernet. It that fails, please consider reaching out to our support team: https://tablotv.com/support/#contact . They'd love to help.

Better than satellite

Tablo in my opinion is better than satellite, it's definitely cheaper.
