When will the Apple TV app be available?

The 4th generation Tablo app for Apple TV app is in beta testing now. We expect it to be available soon.

If you do not have a compatible smart TV or streaming device, you can still use the 4th generation Tablo by connecting any compatible streaming device to your television.

Does Tablo require a subscription?

No. There are no subscriptions, contracts, or hidden fees with Tablo whatsoever. Programming from your TV antenna as well as the 40+ included internet-based streaming channels are absolutely free and there is no cost to enjoy any Tablo apps, features, or guide data.

What hard drives are compatible with Tablo if I want to increase recording storage capacity?

Tablo devices come with up to 50 hours of onboard HD storage. However, you can choose to connect a portable USB hard drive (USB 2.0 or 3.0) between 1TB and 8TB in size for up to 1000 hours of additional storage capacity. See the Tablo Support Portal for details and recommendations.

Can I watch or record cable/satellite or streaming services with Tablo?

Does the 4th generation Tablo support ATSC 3.0 (aka NextGenTV)?

No. The tuners in the 4th generation Tablo support the ATSC 1.0 broadcast standard used by all major commercial broadcasts today and the Tablo device takes full advantage of it like never before. While ATSC 3.0 broadcasts are available in some markets, ATSC 1.0 broadcasts will continue through at least June 2027.

Tablo reception not good

I have ongoing issues not being able to view local channels....which is what I bought it for. The reception is often terrible even though I am within a large city and very near signal. The device also turns itself off about every 1/2 hour?? So you are watching something and it just shuts off. Sometimes I get errors that I cant watch a local channel at all "playback failed". So I really can't recommend this product if you expect any kind of reliability to watch TV. It's very hit or miss whether you will watch TV today.

Hi there, thank you for sharing your feedback about the Tablo (4th Generation) OTA DVR. We're sorry to hear that you have experienced issues with the reception and reliability of your local channels. This is certainly not the experience we want for our customers. We would like to work with you to troubleshoot and resolve these issues. Replaced My Legacy Tablo

I replaced a Tablo that I had purchased in 2014. I figured after 10 years, there should be improvements in the newest model. I’ve always enjoyed the older model though it had a few quirks I had to work around. I knew that with a new model there would be a learning curve having been used to the old way of doing things. The new model has fancier menus akin to other subscription services I use. I’m not thrilled with the channel guide. While it’s nice to be able to switch between all channels and my favorite channels, the description of each channel doesn’t load in favorite mode unless I switch to all channel mode, scroll through all of the channels, then go back to favorite mode. Also, I miss not being able to delete all recorded programs in a series all at once. I must delete one by one. It was also a disappointment that the recordings I had made on the old system couldn’t be merged into the new system. But I knew that going in, still I had some stuff I would have liked to keep. I was expecting the picture to be better but it looks about the same. It’s a good system and works well. But if I knew these things before, I probably would have kept the old system until it finally died.

Replaced my 2 channel Legacy with new 4 channel 4th gen model. Love it!

I needed more capacity (extra tuner) and am very pleased with this new system. The guide is clear and more responsive. I like the on board memory capacity too. I use an external house mounted antenna. If you watch the Antennaman video on youtube, he clearly demonstrates the 4th generation model capabilities.
